Country Dance Day 2026 Brings 400+ Country Dancers to Half Moon Bay
Country dancing continues to grow throughout the San Francisco Bay Area — and Country Dance Day 2026 may have been the clearest example yet.
On Saturday, August 29, more than 400 country dancers gathered in Half Moon Bay for the 3rd Annual Country Dance Day, bringing together dancers, instructors, DJs, choreographers, and country music fans from throughout the Bay Area for a full day of dancing and community.
This year’s event was our biggest yet.
We added 100 additional tickets compared with last year, and despite the increased capacity, Country Dance Day still sold out even earlier. Watching the event continue to grow each year has been incredible and shows just how strong the Bay Area country dance community has become.

Four Dance Floors, 15 Instructors & 5 DJs
Country Dance Day was built around one idea: bring as much of the Bay Area country dance community together as possible in one place.
This year, four dance floors were running simultaneously throughout the event, giving attendees the opportunity to experience a wide variety of country dancing.
The 2026 lineup included:
15 Bay Area line dance instructors
5 DJs from around the Bay Area
Beginner, intermediate, and advanced line dance lessons
Country swing
Two-step
Choreographed partner dancing
Open dancing throughout the day
With multiple areas operating at the same time, dancers could build their own experience — taking lessons, practicing familiar dances, learning something completely new, or simply enjoying the music and community.
Showcasing Bay Area Line Dance Choreographers
One of the things we were especially excited about this year was creating opportunities for Bay Area instructors who have choreographed their own line dances.
Country dancing is not just growing locally in terms of attendance. The Bay Area is also home to talented instructors and choreographers who are contributing their own dances to the larger line dance community.
Country Dance Day gave several of those instructors an opportunity to teach and showcase their original choreography in front of hundreds of dancers.
Supporting local instructors has always been an important part of Country Dance Day, and we hope to continue expanding that part of the event in the years ahead.
A Wild West Town in Half Moon Bay
Of course, Country Dance Day would not be the same without its unique home.
The event takes place at Long Branch Saloon & Farms in Half Moon Bay, an incredible Wild West-style town tucked away on the Coastside.
With an Old West saloon, barn, chapel, Western streetscape, and multiple outdoor spaces, the property creates the perfect backdrop for a country dance event.
Walking through the venue with hundreds of people in boots and cowboy hats while music is playing from multiple dance floors really does feel like stepping into another world for the day.
It is one of the things that makes Country Dance Day different from a traditional dance event — the venue itself becomes part of the experience.
More Than Just Dancing
While the lessons and dance floors are a huge part of Country Dance Day, the event has always been about something bigger: community.
Some attendees have been country dancing for years. Others arrived knowing only a few dances. And some stepped onto a country dance floor for the very first time.
That mix is exactly what we want.
Country dancing has a unique ability to bring people together. Everyone learns the same steps, dances alongside one another, and quickly becomes part of the larger group.
Throughout the day, dancers moved between floors, met instructors, discovered new dances, reunited with friends from different Bay Area venues, and made new connections along the way.

The BootShuffle app helped attendees access the event schedule, map, session information, and other event details from their phones throughout the day.
As both Country Dance Day and the larger country dance community continue to grow, tools like BootShuffle make it easier for dancers to discover events, follow instructors, find dances, and stay connected long after the event ends.
Keeping the Party Going in Downtown Half Moon Bay
When Country Dance Day wrapped up, the dancing did not stop.
Attendees headed into downtown Half Moon Bay for the official after-party at San Benito Cantina, where DJ Shivers kept the music going and dancers had another chance to hang out, dance, grab food and drinks, and finish the night together.
Having the after-party downtown has become another fun part of the Country Dance Day experience and gives dancers a chance to continue enjoying Half Moon Bay after the main event ends.
Country Dancing in the Bay Area Is Getting Noticed
The growth of Country Dance Day is happening alongside a much larger surge in country dancing throughout the Bay Area.
In the days surrounding this year’s event, Country Dance Day was featured on the front page of the San Mateo Daily Journal, highlighting the growing local country dance community.
Just a few days later, DJ Shivers & Line Dancing Lisa were featured on the September cover of San Mateo Living Magazine in a story about their journey, their relationship, and the community that country dancing has helped create.
Seeing country dancing receive this kind of local attention has been exciting — not just for us, but for all of the instructors, DJs, dancers, venues, and organizers who continue to help grow the scene.

Country Dance Day would not exist without the people who show up and make it special.

To have more than 400 people come together for a day dedicated to country dancing in Half Moon Bay is something we do not take for granted.
Country Dance Day started as an idea to bring the Bay Area country dance community together.
Three years later, that community continues to grow — and we cannot wait to see where it goes next.
